"Good stopover."

Second stay at this hotel as an overnight stop between Calais and Nice. Easy to locate only moments from the motorway yet very quiet. Staff friendly with good spoken English. The upgrades Superior Rooms are comfortable, recently well fitted and spacious. Good size car park. Adjacent petrol station was very cheap well 1c/ltr below Auchen's prices (8/11).

After a disastrous stay at a Best Western in St-Etienne with no hot water that ended up taking us over an hour out of our way from Germany to the South of France, I snagged a last-minute web deal for this Novotel. I couldn't have been happier. It is right off the A6, and it was beautiful, clean, and extremely family friendly. Outdoor pool and sundeck, kids playroom with video games, and even a garden off the pool with game tables and a grassy area where I took the baby in the pram to get him to sleep. My only complaint was that, even with the double doors between our room and the hallway, we could still hear other guests and their children running up and down the hallway until 11pm, well after my children and I were trying to sleep. Other than that, everything was very comfortable, the restaurant was nice if a bit overpriced, and the service was excellent.

Very average hotel, expected a little more for the price. Pros:- Good bed- Free WiFi- Near the highway- Flat Screen TelevisionBad:- Old Building- Old furniture- The room doesn't give the best impression (but it is clean)- No complimentary toiletry kit in case you lost luggage or forgot a tooth brush, etc.

This was our 2nd stop here, and it's in a perfect location for a stop over enroute the Alps or the south of France. The rooms are good and comfortable, but the night we stayed we couldn't get a seat in the restaurant to eat, we got there at 7pm and at 10.30pm we were still waiting for a table, we ended up eating crisps in our room, not good when you've been traveling for 11 hours!!! There are other places to go out to eat but you have to drive, and it really spoiled our stay. The place was over run with children , running around all over the place, using the stairs, lifts and communal areas as a playground, which was very noisy. Saying all of this our previous stay was fine!!
