« Pity about the food »

Hotel is comfortable and convenient for the Mont Blanc tunnel. The staff are helpful and professional. However the restaurant has changed since last year, little choice, no buffet and the food was extremely disappointing, the chevre chaud industrial and tasteless and an over reliance on french fries with the main course, an overdone steak. I certainly will not eat there again.

« Good place for a short stay »

We stayed in a family room for three nights. Nice room (although personally I'm not a fan of having the toilet separate from the bathroom) although a bit cramped once the sofa bed was down. Really good breakfast and the one evening meal we had in the hotel was good too. Swimming pool is very good but would benefit from dedicated changing rooms. Great service in general. If you ask they will give you a pass which gives you free travel on public transport.

« Very Good Stay »

We Loved the mountain view from the bedroom and the indoor pool/sauna/jacuzzi. Very friendly staff, thank you. Dated building. Easy parking.............................................................

« Good location but poor service »

Lovely location just outside Chamonix with a good view of the Alps. However the service in the bar and restaurant was very poor. In the evening there were no staff in the bar/restaurant area at all and I had to go hunting for someone. At breakfast most of the tables had not been cleared from earlier guests and again a lack of servicce.

Dear Guest, Thank you for having taken the time to give us your views on your experience in our hotel. We are very grateful for your remarks. Believe us your experience at the restaurant was not representative of the quality level usually provided to our customers and was an isolated fact. But if you experienced it it still means it can happen. So, thanks to your remarks we had the opportunity to point it out once again to keep improving our customer experience at the restaurant. Looking forward to welcoming you soon, Yours sincerely,

« Winter Wonderland »

An very good hotel close to the ski runs and city centre (but not too close). Great overall facilities, excellent restaurant and food... Very friendly staff, and the hotel is in an excellent location...

« Peter's ski holiday »

The hotel was good, the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The website claims " free shuttle bus to Chamonix". This was actually the municipal bus service, once an hour, from a stop about half a mile away, on a road with no footpath, icy and slippery in parts. Had we known this, we would have hired a car in Geneva airport instead of using a minibus hire service to get to Chamonix. Since one of our party hurt his leg, and the snow was rubbish, we actually hired a car for 4 days. WE DID ENJOY THE HOLIDAY, BUT THIS WAS ANNOYING

« reasonable hotel if location is not a priority »

We booked this hotel last minute for New Year's Eve. For that reason, we paid quite a premium as it was half board and included a New Year's Eve dinner and breakfast the following morning. The property itself is reasonable, with some decent upgrades. Our room was fine - not super new but not completely outdated either. The common area facilities are good, though the pool area was very crowded and loud with children. There is a good amount of free outdoor parking, and a separate ski storage room with keyed lockers available. We were a bit disappointed that the +€120/person NYE dinner was buffet style. There was some confusion about our reservation so it took some time to get our table. The manager seemed nice and wanted to be helpful, but the staff were not super competent (didn't have updated info, no idea about skiing conditions, gave misinformation) . During the dinner we were fairly neglected (had to repeatedly ask for things that seemed to be given to other tables, like bread, water, and wine). Because of the buffet format, there was always a race for certain foods, like lobsters and macaroons. We missed out on some things that never got replenished, or were replenished well after we were done eating. The one thing that would prevent us from returning is the location. We were told on the phone before booking that the hotel was close to the center of Chamonix village and that there would be buses easily available to/from the village, even for the New Year's fireworks. We figured that this would be fine, especially since 3km can be walked if needed. It turned out that the buses stop quite early, the distance is more like 4km, and it is not walk-friendly, unless you want to walk along a highway and/or on narrow roads without sidewalks. We ended up using taxis to/from the village for an extortionist €30 each way. I think this place is probably reasonable value (outside of the holiday period) if you have young children, aren't looking to spend a lot of time in Chamonix village, and just plan to drive to/from ski telecabines. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to people without kids who want better access to restaurants, shopping, and bars.

« Nice Hotel »

I enjoyed my stay at Mercure Chamonix Les Bossons. It was a refreshing experience amidst a great mountain nature. The staff were very nice. The rooms were relatively spacious. Breakfast could have been better with more variety, although it was OK.

« Fuss free »

For a one night stopover this hotel was ideal with a no stress check in an check out. Food seems pricey so did not eat at the hotel. Would have liked to have a swim but kids ruled the pool, so did ours. So perhaps a swim needs to be timed.

« Stop over at Chamonix on way to Italy »

very pleasant hotel in a lovely location, with a view of glaciers. Indoor pool was clean and warm. Very relaxing after a days travelling. Good menu with enough choice. Location is good, car not needed to get into centre of town, just a nice bracing walk.

« Excellent customer service & location! »

This is a great place for an overnight with the family, on your way to Italy (so you can go through the Tunnel du Mont Blanc bright & early). We had connecting rooms for us and our 4 children. The pool is fun, the playground & ping-pong table are a hit with kids. The customer service is wonderful (I LOVE Marion in reservations; a gem). However, the hotel itself could use a few upgrades & the air-con was practically non-existant. Nevertheless, I still recommend it for an overnight stop!

« Good place to take a rest »

All the places in Chamonix is good place to visit I think, because it is Chamonix. 5km apart from the center of Chamonix, the hotel's location is more quiet and good to take a rest. The hotel has a mountain cottage like atmosphere with wooden interior. Wi-fi works well, new equipped big TV, cool weather in summer. Whichever hotel I choose, It would be O.K. for me if it is in Chamonix.

VIRGINIE D, Responsable réception at Mercure Chamonix Les Bossons, responded to this review

Dear Travellers, I would like to thank you for your compliment in our hotel and for your friendly support through Trip Advisor. Hope to welcome you again very soon, Kind regards

« Great Location, average hotel »

Room was clean but air conditioning did not work and opening the windows let in the bugs at night. This area is definitely worth visiting - the Alps are amazing and the local village is charming. Do the walk to the glacier and ride the gondola to the top. There is also a luge ride and several play areas for those traveling with children.

VIRGINIE D, Responsable réception at Mercure Chamonix Les Bossons, responded to this review

Dear Kate, Thank you for taking your time to share your experience with us. We gratefully acknowledge your comments, as they allow us to improve our service and better satisfy our guests. Thank you and we look forward to host you again in our hotel. Kind regards

« Lovely resort type hotel in a gorgeous setting »

Our family had a great time staying at this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer than the one night. Given that the price was very reasonable, we weren't expecting so many facilities. My kids loved the pool, table tennis tables and playground. I loved having drinks on the terrace admiring the gorgeous view. Chamonix is a beautiful place to stay. The Aiguille Du Midi cable car is a must and only a two minute drive from the hotel.

« Italy Tour »

we awnted a 2 night stopover that enabled us to enjoy the scenery and be near to Chamonix and had easy access to the Mont Blanc Tunnel. This was perfect for that and the service was very good and the hotel facilities were also good. The rooms were a little tired but the beds were fine. a little on the expensive side, but overall quite good value for money. Would stay there again.

« very good room with view on the mont blanc »

Very good room with view on the mont blanc. Clean and calm. There was also a Nespresso machine with few free capsules. Very good dinner with menu buffet. Maybe the breakfast missed some variety /quality for a 4 stars level hotel.
