"Nice hotel, good location"
20th February 2012, Knivsta
Nice hotel with fresh feeling and good breakfast (if you want to avoid sunky and old smelling hotels). Good location close to high way while passing Caen. Nice with parking close. Everything worked perfectly according to our needs for a quick stopover.
"The French and there arrogance, avoid at all costs."
23rd January 2012, London, United Kingdom
Twenty five euros for two fizzzy non alcoholic drinks and a Vodka and lemonade x1 beer. Note however the bar men had one price for locals and another for tourists. Caen itself is a dump and the French with out coming across as stero typing have an air of arrogance which drives you mad. Rest assured I would not recommend this hotel or country to any fellow Brit.
"Convenient Overnight Stay"
20th September 2011, Glasgow, United Kingdom
We always come to this hotel the night before catching the early ferry at Ouistreham. It has never let us down. It's not spectacular but always does the job well. Quibbles this year were the previous occupants' towels left hanging on the hooks, and a restaurant swamped by a large party causing us to get bounced into the bar and the maitre d' to be too harassed for us to bother to complain about lukewarm food. But we'll be back, and happily recommend Novotel Caen.
"Pleasantly surprised"
6th September 2011, York
We'd not stayed in an Accor hotel before but I stay in plenty of similar hotels around Europe through my job and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I thought it was a cut above the average. It's a clean and seemingly well run hotel with a friendly welcome, (dinner service was a little brusque but otherwise fine). The location is nothing to speak of in itself, on the ring road of Caen, but when you're staying here you are probably going on to the ferry like us, so it's handy - 15 minutes drive. The car park is right at the front of the hotel and it has CCTV just in case.We have 3 kids, (6, 4 and 2), and the room we booked had a double bed for us and the 2 year old and a sofa that folded out for the other 2. Mini bar, TV, room service all present and useful. All in all, it feels like someone at Accor has had a think about what people would like, and got on with delivering it.
"Stay 28th Aug"
4th September 2011, joems, London
The hotel and room was excellent, and only 10 mins drive from Caen centre. Staff friendly and helpful. The only downside was the restaurant - the servioe was great but the quality/portion size of the food was not good when compared to the price. For example the pasta pennewith bolognaise sauce had virtually no sauce and was priced at 9 euros 80 cents.
"Great room shame about the breakfast"
9th August 2011, Bradford
The room accommodated our family of 4 very comfortably. the hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel facilities were good. We paid extra for the breakfast, 13 euros but were very disappointed with what was on offer for the price charged.Would stay there again but give the breakfast a miss.
"Excellent value for money and surprisingly good food!"
1st August 2011, Sevenoaks
Very happy with our stay here. Staff were courteous and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious enough. The stay and breakfast were very good value in comparison to other similar hotels we stayed in on the same trip. We were positively surprised to see the outdoor pool - although we didn't use it. The food in the restaurant was extremely good - both for dinner and breakfast.
"Excellent staff"
21st July 2011
Accor hotels can vary, but this is an excellent one, primarily because if its staff - the quality of staff makes or breaks a hotel, hence this repeat visit. The reception staff were courteous and friendly and the restaurant staff if anything even better. Service was prompt and food quality excellent. Rooms are a good size and comfortable. Limited number if TV channels but free wifi internet in rooms. Good location for roads out of town and a tramstop right at the door for exploring Caen city centre. One of my favourite Novotels.
"Good Hotel"
18th July 2011
The hotel is fairly close to a tram stop --ask for details at the reception as it is better to go into Caen for any form of bars, restaurants etc,if you don't want to eat at the Hotel.Like any city centre Caen is a little quiet on a Sunday night - but there are bars and restaurants open by the river/canal.
"modern, clean hotel"
12th July 2011, doncaster
plenty of parking (secure). buffet breakfast great. no air con yet in a 'superior room'! fortunately weather was cloudy/showery so not too bad, but size of family room was very tight! single sofa beds for older children pulled down side by side, so couldn't get between them. they were also tight up to window so had to climb over each other to get in/out. when it rained, as no air con, window opened inwards so rained in until it woke one of us.... then had to shut it again.... became stuffy quickly as small room. quite a few hairs on floor in walk in shower!
