Grossly D. Families - Confirmed reviews ALL

Very disappointed on two counts - and we never complain! 1. We arrived after midnight, following a late arrival into Nice. Having booked the hotel several days ahead, we were disappointed to discover that our pre-booked family room was not ready. More than that, we were sent up to the room only to have to return to advise the late night receptionist. It was late at night and the young man at reception who clearly had no experience in making up beds did his very best to make up the room for us (no complaints about him - he tried his best), but it took forever which is difficult for children when it is 1am in the morning. Only after him leaving did we discover there were not enough towels. Another trip to reception to resolve the second issue. At this point, clearly highly embarrassed as we had now been at the hotel for at least 45 minutes, the receptionist offered the children a soft drink each, but some sort of compensation such as a drink voucher for the adults would have gone a long way. 2. Our second gripe is the swimming pool. We specifically selected this hotel for its beautiful outdoor area and swimming pool, which we felt was worth the inconvenience of the hotel being located 25 minutes out of town. On the first morning, the children finished breakfast, put on their swimsuits and came down to swim, only to learn that the pool would not be open until May. Nowhere on the Accor website it mentioned that the pool would be shut; quite the contrary in fact, we were greeted with beautiful photos of a wonderful pool. Why not simply put a footnote advising potential guests that the pool is not open until May. This is false advertising - the hotel rates were very high and this is just not acceptable. I expected more. Both of these matters were avoidable and they really did impact our trip. Explaining to children that they couldn't swim when they had been so looking forward to it after a long dreary UK winter was sad.

Convenient stay

This was my second longer stay at the Novotel Antibes Sophia Antipolis. The rooms are quiet and clean. Though I have clearly indicated to use my towels again by folding and hanging them on the holder it seemed as if I was provided each day with new ones. This is in contrast to the requested sustainability. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing, one morning no juice or even water were available. Warming of Crepes and Pancakes would be of advantage and I would have expected a little more variation for the guest equipes from Maroc and Iran, i.e. less pork as a sign of respect.

Expensive, getting old and poor service

I was supposed to stay 1 week but after the first night realized this hotel is no longer what it once was. The hotel is looking old and everywhere there are signs of wear and tear. Upon returning back to the room on my second night I was surprised to see the room had not been cleaned. When I checked with the front desk the following morning, the lady did not even apologize. When you are paying close to 165 Euros in Sophia Antipolis you expect something better. Needless to say, I quickly checked-out and went to another hotel which was a lot cheaper and it offered me an overall better stay.
