Great place to stay , perfect for our needs

We have just had a week here and it was perfect for what we wanted to do in the area. Two bedroom, two bathroom villa, great kitchen with all you need, very comfortable living areas. Bedrooms are upstairs as are the bathrooms, bedrooms have balcony's to sit out if you wish but no furniture, not a problem just took a chair from downstairs. There is a outside sitting area out from the kitchen with furniture. A real bonus is that each bathroom / bedroom has a big bath. Takes just under 30 minutes to walk into the Main Street of Creswick, only about 4minutes to drive , very handy position. Right next door to the RACV Goldfields resort, we had many a good walk around the course and beyond, there you will encounter lots of kangaroos and birdlife every day . Another bonus is the bus stop out the front on the main road to Ballarat. We caught the bus into Ballarat and back on two different days, a very pleasant ride of about 20 minutes, it goes once an hour, times are at the bus stop, just use your Myki card if you have one , they do not accept payment for a ticket on the bus . Only one problem we had was the wifi kept cutting out about every 2 hours or whenever you turned your device off, it was very annoying. It was easy to login but who wants to keep logging in every time you go to use your device. There is nobody on site so when you ring the number it goes to the Sebel in Melbourne, they basically said there was nothing they could do about it. It is something they need to address as when we stayed there a couple of years ago we never had the problem, maybe it is a problem in Villa 5 where we were. Apart from that we had a great week, it is a good place to base yourself when visiting the area.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. We really appreciate your input and so glad you enjoyed your stay. We take your feedback on board. Thank you

Interesting ‘resort’

We arrived at this ‘resort’ on a rainy afternoon and looked for our unit. It was number 1 so when we saw the large white number 1 on the first building, we pulled into the drive only to find out it was a private establishment. So I set off walking in the rain looking for another number 1. I eventually worked out that the numbers were included in a dark metal art piece under a dark carport next to the front door. We found number 1, it was next to the other number 1. We entered the villa to find a visually gorgeous interior. Architecturally interesting and with lovely outlooks from the many windows. We put the gas log fire on straight away. We had a 2 bedroom villa and the 2 bedrooms upstairs were BOTH master bedrooms. An interesting feature were the baths in both rooms - not in the bathroom but part of the bedroom. I didn’t try it because it was deep and slippery with no hand rails. Not good for oldies. But they did look good. I used the small ‘bathroom’ shower instead. Not an easy feat either. We settled in. We established pretty early that the wifi was problematic with continual drop outs. 10 + logins a day and sometimes 2 to 3 attempts each time. I rang a provided number the next morning and I asked where I could find Reception. There isn’t one. We wondered why we were booked in and told about the key box over the phone. I asked about ‘resort’ facilities eg gym, pool, BBQ etc. There aren’t any. The electronic compendium didn’t give much info we needed e.g. where to put recyclables. Dishwashing supplies were minimal. 2 small dishwashing sachets and 2 dishwasher sachets for up to 4 people for a week. If you wanted more, you had to pay for them! Bring your own supplies! I went to IGA and bought a 1lt bottle of Earth Choice dishwash liquid for not much more than a sachet would have cost. The front of the villas look great but walk around the back and it’s a different story. Weeds, broken down fences, slippery moss. Very uncared for. The cleanliness of the unit itself was excellent. However, small things like the dirty grout in showers and the dirty dishwasher were disappointing. The villa was quiet, the beds and pillows were comfortable, TV reception was good. We appreciated the downstairs toilet. The beds and pillows were comfortable, TV reception was good. We appreciated the downstairs toilet. We didn’t try the RACV restaurant on the adjoining property. We did go into Ballarat for a meal with friends and we had a takeaway noodle dish one night but self catered the other nights. Creswick is delightful. Country town feel, friendly people, interesting history and fabulous walking tracks plus more! Pop into the info centre as soon as possible. If you’re a first time visitor to Victoria, take a drive to beautiful Daylesford, and walk around the Botanic Gardens and Lake Wendouree in Ballarat. Would we stay at Sebel Creswick again? Yes. Knowing what they don’t have will help us plan for what we need. The accomodation overall is good. But it’s not a resort. The attraction for us will be do more walking. The walks have been amazing. Including the walk around the adjacent RACV golf course.

Roomy self contained apartments

I have stayed here several times over the years and we always enjoy our stay. This time we were joined by by son and partner. We were in Villa 10 which is closest to the main road but the noise from vehicles passing wasnt too bad and didnt disturb my sleep. They are two bedroom apartments with each having an ensuite and a bath in the room. Great to lie in the bath and watch tv. The villa has two and a half bathrooms, a full kitchen and a washer and dryer so self contained and very suitable for long stays. On the same property the RACV Goldfields is located where there is a bar/restaurant as well as a fine dining restaurant a short walk away. Internet was a real problem last time for us and whilst the internet worked better it constantly dropped out and required logging back in. This resort is a great base to visit nearby towns such as Ballarat, Clunes, Trentham, and Daylesford. Creswick town is small andhas two pubs. Our favourite place for dinner is Odessa at Leaver Hotel which is a restored gold rush building turned into a wine bar and restaurant. They serve mainly Thai food and local wines and beer. On Saturday nights they have a band playing. Any groceries required can be purchased at the local IGA which has expanded in the last few years and has a great range of groceries available including ready meals. No doubt we will be back again.

Dear tommomelbourne Thank you for your wonderful review; we appreciate the time you have taken to share you experience with other travelers. We look forward to seeing you again. Kind regards Resort Services

We stayed at the Sebel Creswick Forest resort in early September 2021 and it has to have been one of the most relaxing resorts we've ever stayed in. The villa was well presented, although the cleaning could have been better. Facilities in the villa such as bathtubs in each bedroom were very appealing and relaxing. Will definitely be heading back there very soon.

Dear BobbyK217 Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at The Sebel Creswick Forest Resort. It is wonderful to hear you had such a relaxing time and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Resort soon. Warm regards Accor Vacation Club

HUGE price rise in 12 months!

Note TripAdvisor 3.0/5

li1213 En famille - Avis TripAdvisor

We have stayed here for 2 nights in the winter school holidays for the last 3 years. We are very disappointed to find the price has gone up almost $300 for two nights accomodation since our stay last year. We have loved our stays and had made it a yearly tradition but will not be paying almost $700 for two nights stay when we only paid $400 12 months ago. I understand that Covid19 has been tough on businesses however this price rise is excessive and unaffortable for many families. This accomodation does not have the facilities or the quality furniture and amenities to warrant such an excessive price.

Dear m13jp Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us. My apologies that you found the pricing to be higher than expected. All pricing at this property is dynamic, so flexes with occupancy and can also take into account event periods, and as such it is possible that your chosen weekend was affected by this high demand. We would love to have you stay with us again and so please keep an eye out for early bird offers or specials which will allow you to meet your budget expectations and enjoy the Creswick region once more. Warm regards Resort Services
