Well appointed hotel and room BUT Our room was comfortable but when the room was serviced the maid managed to leave us without a bath mat and did not replace the canned water, instead just leaving what remained from the night before. Despite the food being reasonably good our evening meal was spoiled by absolutely shambolic service. It took a good half hour from our reserved time to be seated and then an age to even get a drink. Maybe it was just a bad (Friday) night but it was absolutely terrible - the opposite of relaxing. The breakfast buffet was excellent BUT we could only book times far earlier than we wanted. That was fortunate, in a way, as replenishment of the buffet was not too efficient.

I want to extend my sincerest apologies for the disappointing experiences you encountered during your recent stay with us. It is disheartening to hear that our otherwise well-appointed facilities were marred by service lapses in our dining and housekeeping areas. Regarding your dinner experience, I am truly sorry for the delays and overall poor service you received. This is not reflective of our usual standards, and we had two staff members call in sick for there shift which we were unable to replace on top of a medical emergency in our outside dinning pods we are taking steps to address this with our restaurant team to ensure such incidents are not repeated. Additionally, I apologize for the inconvenience you faced in not being able to book your preferred breakfast times. We appreciate your feedback and will review our reservation procedures to enhance the guest experience in this regard. Regarding the housekeeping issues with your room, I apologize that it was not clear that the water in the bedrooms is complimentary on arrival only and therefore not replenished. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we genuinely appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. A lovely hotel. Staff were all very friendly and efficient. A special mention to Francesca on reception who was really accommodating in getting us a light airy room with special touches in the room and at dinner for our wedding anniversary. It was nice to be greeted by someone happy and friendly when you arrive. Food was really good and Bowden Hall honey was delicious, so much so we took 2 jars home! Would definitely recommend.

Stayed on a sparkling escape deal which was good value for money. Classic room was spacious and comfortable although carpet was worn in places and the chairs were a bit stained. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. However we ate twice in the restaurant and were very disappointed. The first night I had the pork loin steak with hassleback potatoes, red cabbage and broccoli. The red cabbage was very nice but the potatoes were overcooked and soggy and it was all pretty tasteless. My husband has the pie which was OK. We decided to try again this evening, I had the katsu curry which came with rice and pickled red cabbage (strange?) The rice was seriously overcooked, I suspect boil in the bag? The chicken burger thingy was dry and overcooked and the curry sauce tasted as if it was out of a jar. My husband had the mushroom and truffle linguine which he said was OK but nothing special, the prices charged are about what you would expect from a Mercure hotel but the quality of the food is sadly lacking. Would not stay here again.

Songbird Alleinreisende - Bestätigte Mitteilungen ALL

Der Umgang im Hotel ist sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. Das Restaurant und die Lounge sind stilvoll eingerichtet, die Lage des Hotel ist wunderschön. Die Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, jedoch sauber und gemütlich. Negativ war nur der Porzellan Spülkasten, der sehr lange und laut nachgelaufen ist. Die Hellhörigkeit ist dem alten Gebäude geschuldet, hier sollte man nicht überrascht sein.

Dieses Hotel ist ein Durchreisehotel, meist mit Aufenthalt für 2-3 Tage, für Geschäftsreisende und vorwiegend Ostasiatische Gruppen. Dieses Hotel ist Laut- im vorderen Bereich, da hier die Hauselektronik ist, es brummt die halbe Nacht und frühmorgens. Dort sind die Einzelzimmer- über der Küche- wie üblich! Ebenso laut im 4. Stock- dort sind Restzimmer für Personen aus Gruppen, welche man nicht unterbringt, oder die sich beschweren, dann erfolgt nochmals ein Abstieg, da hier Rigipswände verbaut sind! Kein Aufzug- aber Koffer werden gebracht, wenn man Glück hat. Unhygienisch- total verdreckte Teppichböden, Mülleimer im Bad war nicht geleert (mit diversen Hygieneartikeln der Vorgängerinnen!!), Matratze verstreute einen äußerst unappetitlichen Geruch. Fenster - nicht nur verdreckt, sondern 10 Jahre nicht mehr gereinigt- lassen sich nur mit einem Kraftakt öffnen. Essen - einigermaßen o.k., aber nichts Besonderes. Positiv- das Personal ist zumeist sehr bemüht, und versucht alles wieder wett zu machen. Es ist mir nicht klar, wie dieses Hotel zu solchen Bewertungen kommt.
