Our Yellowwater villas experience at Cooinda Lodge

We had a lovely 3 nights in one of the new Yellowwater villas. It was wonderful waking from a sleep in a very comfortable bed with amazing pillows! to a beautiful scene of peaceful bushland. The villas are spacious , bathroom huge with a shower that looks on the bushland. Then for a very special time a bath-on the deck in the bush. Air conditioning was super efficient which was appreciated in the hot times that we were there. The lodge facilities are great too. Food excellent and pools for swimming were also good. Staff were very helpful. Of course you are right there for the tours along the billabong with tons of wildlife to be seen. Sunrise and sunset are particularly pretty. Then we did a couple of fishing trips with Gecko and caught heaps of barramundi. Biggest were a 73, 74 and 76 cm. Cooinda Lodge is definitely THE place to stay in Kakadu. We were so glad we chose here and not Jabiru.

Nice enough place - maintenance guy was rude.

When you’re travelling it’s the small things that make the difference. We pulled up here with our caravan and it was green and welcoming. Once on our site we couldn’t connect to the power and every time we tried it ‘tripped’ the fuse. Another camper there explained that the last people on our site had experienced the same so we ran an extension cord to another power box and it was all good. We went to reception and explained what we had done and they were great. So we went on the yellow water cruise only to come back and d Find we had been unplugged and were plugged into the dodgy outlet. It was explained by a maintenance guy that it must be our van problem? We’re 2 years old? Anyway, we reconnected and had no issues. Guy was rude to my wife.

We spent one night at the Cooinda Lodge in Kakadu NP, though after staying there, I wished we had stayed two nights. We booked a family room with extra beds for the kids. The lodge was quite clean and nice as was the shower in the room. I can’t say the same about the place we stayed in Jaibru. The air conditioning worked great. The two pools were nice as well. We opted for a swim in the larger one, but the smaller one looked nice as well. It seemed that the older folks at the establishment preferred the smaller one. The room was a little pricy and so was the food at the restaurant, but the quality of both were excellent, so no complaints there. The store onsite has plenty of snacks, drinks, and other necessities if the need arises. Highly recommend staying and eating at the Cooinda Lodge.

Rooms need a good clean!

I’ve stayed in cleaner hostels! Way below expectations on the cleaning front - I appreciate it’s the quiet season but the lodge room we stayed in needed a dam good clean. Cobwebs, dead insects and filthy patio windows just demonstrated the need for a good clean! On a positive note, whilst breakfast costs - it exceeded expectations, just fantastic range, quality and standard of food on offer. The morning river cruise was fantastic in terms of commentary, scenic value and wildlife. This place has such potential, just needs a good clean and upgrade.

Perfect for the Yellow River Cruise

This is the place to stay for the nearby Yellow River Cruise. The pool has a sunshade which is good. The tented rooms are fine though a bit difficult to find (there's a one-way circular route). Food was good.
