Decent no-frills option for travellers on a budget

Arrival: Easy to get in after hours with instructions provided. Reception smelled of weed when we arrived. When staff were on duty they were always pleasant and helpful, and said hello whenever we passed. Kitchen: well-equipped with fridge, microwave, sink, glasses, cutlery, crockery, but no kettle. We knew that in advance, but it was still a big miss for us. We ended up using the coffee machine to heat water, but it took about 20m to make enough for 2 cups. Location: fairly quiet side street, a bit of noise from bin collections in the early morning. Easy to get to from the airport, 30min by tram then a 5min walk to the hotel. Also a 5m walk to the nearest supermarket. City centre is a 20m walk, or about 15min by tram including the walk to the stop. Room: comfortable bed, but no aircon, only a fan and a wall panel heater with a dubious thermostat. No bedside table on one side, but we could have moved the phone table over if required. Bathroom: a bit shabby, with an awkward shower mounted over a half-size bath. A hairdryer was provided, even though we’d read reviews saying it wasn’t. WiFi: free and worked fine. Would advise usual precautions and use a VPN, though.

Three stars is perhaps a little unfair, but four would be too generous. Our room was fine and clean, though was starting to show a little age. The bed was comfy and the kitchenette was well-equipped; there are three branches of Carrefour City within a five-minute walk. There was a little traffic noise from outside but it wasn't significant, and earplugs are provided. The bathroom, while spacious, had an odd half-bathtub that was slightly awkward and would be inaccessible for those with mobility issues. I can't say if that applies to all rooms. The hotel is a bit away from the main tourist areas but it's only 5 minutes to the tram stop at Palais de Justice and the surroundings are residential. Note that the reception is not 24-hour. It closes at 21:00 during the week (there is a code to unlock the front door) and at 16:00 on weekends. There's a contact number, but you may wish to plan accordingly.

This property is in need of renovation. The pictures on the website only show the nicest room. My original room had discoloured and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom and the furniture and doors showed splitting seems, chipped paint, and deep gouges. The plumbing was exposed in the bathroom and the tup was half sized and claustrophobic. When I complained, the front day front desk manager just argued with me and told me to find another hotel rather than giving me a room with a full tub saying that was for 4 people. I found their tone and attitude aggressive. Other staff were quite lovely and did their best to make things right. I was eventually moved to a room with a full bath, nicer, but still run down. My loyalty program didn't help at all leaving everything up to the manager, but they were quite nice about the situation. I was also asked to take out my own trash and wash my own dish...this policy meant that I had dirty dishes in the first room and crumbs in the silverware tray.

2-star hotel, at least 3-star standard!

I had a single studio with double bed. Very comfortable - with the kitchinette. No safe in the room but TV with many channels. Very clean and non smoking. No everyday cleaning of the room. No toiletteries in the room, just liquid soap and shampoo by the shower. I missed some body lotion, which I use as after-shave. Quite rich continental breakfast, but I missed some fish and dry meat, as it costs 9 euros per day. Very kind staff.

I stayed at this facility on September 14th and 15th 2019. It ticked all the boxes for me even though l booked quite late and weekends in Bordeaux are busy so as £70 a night it was more pricey than l usually pay at Adagio. However, it was still good value and the best option available for my needs. The location is very good. A quiet street less than 10 minutes walk from the tram and only 15 minutes walk from one of Bordeaux's main shopping malls which is anchored by a big Auchan with large supermarket department. Everything was explained to me in English. The same staff member was on shift throughout my stay and she was absolutely excellent and friendly. Reception does close at 18.00 at weekends at this branch so visitors do need to be able to work with that. The room was a good size as was the bed. The TV worked, there was sufficient natural light and the room had been well cleaned between bookings.The kitchenette area was separate from the main part of the room and the supply of catering/cooking equipment was good. I find Accor tend to provide more pans,cutlery, crockery than their competitors. So, good place to stay and if the young woman on shift of 14th -16th September is typical, very high level of staff performance.
