Lovely hotel. Very grand entrance. Staff really helpful. Very comfy bed and great air con. Lovely indoor - outdoor pool area. The outdoor pool was a little small for the size of the hotel and there needs to be more sun loungers. In the afternoon many ppl came outside but could not find a lounger. The 4th floor corridors also needs a re paint. Aside from this it’s a lovely hotel and probably one of the best in the city? We would recommend this hotel.

Impressive building! Staff helpful. 2 rooms and one with an 8 year old which they insisted an upgrade; but that room was actually smaller than the standard room for more money. Breakfast = eh! Great location away from the city and walkable to great restaurants.

This was a fantastic place to stay for three nights. The hotel is outside the central area and it will take a good 15 minutes to get to the center, but it is worth it. Our room was clean, comfortable and enormous in size. A particular shout-out to the Lobby Manager Rodrigo for making certain our stay went smoothly.

A historic building with a wonderful lobby. Opposite a nice beach. The rooms could need a refurbishment. They have a kinda open bathroom which we didn´t like. The pool area is nice with a little lawn. Best thing was the wonderful breakfast with excellent service. The egg dishes were great and the bread and croissants were really delicious.

We arrived on New Year’s Day from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Uruguay because we have a flight departing from Montevideo to Los Angeles (via Bogota) very early in the morning on Jan 2nd. Since this is the first day of 2024, I wanted my children to enjoy a castle-like hotel during the day, while we parents try our luck at the hotel casino during the night, so we chose to book the Sofitel Carrasco Resort and Casino. I booked a room at the Sofitel with a King size bed to enjoy during the day and let the children sleep at night for a few hours while my wife and I spent time at the hotel’s casino until our 3am departure time. Our goal was to not sleep at night in Montevideo and sleep instead during our entire 13 hour flight combo to Los Angeles. Upon our arrival, the hotel management insisted that we purchase a second room because per their policy, two adults and two kids could not stay in one room no matter the circumstances. I have never experienced such strictness and rude attitude anywhere I have travelled, and I travel a lot. We were given a separate room, not connected to ours, for our two daughters. Hotel management won their ‘policy’ battle, but lost the war because a) we will now be sleeping tonight rather than gambling and b) we will NOT be booking any rooms with the Sofitel brand in the future.

Rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the matter. All our efforts are concentrated on preventing future inconveniences. It should be noted that your reservation was made for two adults only and you were two adults, a 15 year old teenager and a 9 year old child. You booked a superior room (our initial category) of 30 m2 with queen bed, we not only complied with the policies but we also complied taking care of your safety.
