Together with Qining Sofitel, these would have to be the best of the brand in China. Conveniently located inside the wall on People's Square, it's about a 25 minute walk from either the Bell Tower or the Muslim Quarter. Due to the traffic, a Didi takes about the same time. The hotel staff are friendly and competent and you'll find most are OK with English. The Junior Suite was large, clean and airy with opening windows. Happy Hour from 5 to 7 was a pleasant experience. Breakfas was superb. I'm sorry to have to leave!

Great Location in Xian, with awkward chekin in experience

A great hotel inside the old city wall. The location was really nice. We stayed two nights there in a junior suite on vacation. The room was large and comfortable, but somewhat dated. Breakfast was good and par for the course for that class hotel in China. The check in experience was somewhat awkward and irritating. Although I booked through Accorhotels website the room with breakfast, the person at the reception insisted that breakfast was not included. I had to open the reservation confirmation email from Accorhotels to show her proof that breakfast was included. That was a strange experience, the fact that their system did not show that breakfast was included with the reservation!

Slightly tired business hotel with great staff and nice restaurants

Business hotel on the eastern side of central Xi’an, set in a little enclave of smart conference hotels. We stayed in club rooms on the third floor. These were spacious and well equipped, but rather tired in decor and slightly old-fashioned. Served us perfectly well, but had no views and slightly low ceilings. It felt like this part of the hotel had needed some redecoration for a number of years. The common areas are rather smarter, in a four-star business hotel style. A reasonable pool and gym. Japanese restaurant which serves really pretty good Japanese food and has friendly and professional staff. The highlight for us was the Azur western-style restaurant: see our separate review. The best thing about this hotel is the staff: thoroughly professional, very helpful and friendly. a really nice team. If you can score, a good price at this hotel, then go for it. It’s not a bad place to stay.

Watch out for Sofitel Renmin Square!

This is the worst 5 star I have ever been to. I'm not sure why it's called a 5 star. It is rather a 2.5 star. This is only because the staff were very nice and helpful. The building and facilities are very old and tired. Room quality is abysmal with patch and paint work very visible. It smelt badly and the toilet was in a very poor state with instructions on how to flush it. I could see dirt up the ceiling, lying down from my bed. It was an unbelievably poor experience and I had to leave after one night and cut short my 5 night stay to find a better place to lay my head. I chose Sofitel because I have been to other Sofitel hotels and know the quality they provide. Unfortunately I had just arrived from one 5 star hotel and this felt like a nightmare. If you plan to visit the Sofitel at Renmin Square in Xi'an, then think again. If you just want somewhere with a good location and don't care about 5 star services then ignore this review.

Excellent service and very nice people from all the stuff at 11 floor sofitel in special Jennifer for be friendly with us. FOOD AND drinks very good quality, room very clean, I will back for sure. Location perfect.
