Slow and terrible service - an hour and a half for food!

We visited the restaurant in search of gluten free options - difficult to find in Bucharest. We were glad to find gluten free options, even if they took an hour and half to arrive. The waiter was incredibly slow and at times quite standoffish - huffing at one of our party, failing to come and take our order multiple times. The waiter took almost an hour to take our food order - and this only occurred after we walked up to the bar to request. When the food did finally arrive it was okay and we all were able to eat. However given the slow and poor service we were very disappointed with our experience.

The staff at reception were rude and unfriendly. We were curtly informed at check in that our room would be available (maybe) 15 minutes past check in time. No apologies or explanations were made and instead the staff glared and actually said: It's only 15 minutes, what's the problem? Once we got the room, we found that the beds were very shoddily made up and the area next to the sofa bed clearly had not been vacuumed as there were pieces of crisps on the floor from previous occupants. We had to call and remind them to bring up pillows for the extra bed. Overall, extremely disappointing quality and customer service.

did not like the hotel very much. Messages are not answered when booking a room, it is not possible to get additional information. If you are traveling with a dog, prepare to pay on the spot + 50 euros, although there is no information about the cost anywhere. There is information that parking is paid, although this is also absurd, the hotel is not cheap, they could at least make parking free. The toilet is terrible, it resembles a closet, the sink is leaking in the bathroom, behind which there is water on the floor, the rooms are small. One thing that was on the level is the breakfast!

The hotel is nice and nice staff BUT THE WINDOWS ARE ALWAYS TOTALLY CLOSED. AND.... THE AC IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. BECAUSE OF THIS EUROPEAN MADNESS OF CLOSED WINDOWS - ROOMS ARE NOT VENTILATED....I REALLY COULD NOT BREATHE. IT IS A PITTY SUCH A NICE HOTEL WITH BIG ROOMS....AND SUCH A STRANGE EUROPEAN SICKNES: CLOSED EINDOWS. SO THE BOSSES IN BRUSSELES DECIDED .... AND HOW EXACTLY DO YOU VENTILATE THE ROOMS DURING CORONA ?????? NOVOTEL AND ALL EUROPEAN CHAINS SHOULD SUE THE EUROPEAN BURAUCRATS IN ORDER TO CHANGE THIS DIRECTIVE I HAD TO LEAVE THE NICE HOTEL WITH ALL THE SORROW AND I MOVED TO A NEARBY HOTEL WITH NORMAL OPENING WINDOWS. SORRY

Spa trip

We spent a couple of nights here on a girls trip as we had booked Therme Spa. We booked 2 rooms- both executive. The check in and staff were fab. The suite was massive… think the bathroom was bigger than my first house!! Location was really good for the price- just 5 mins stroll into the old town. Safety wise- as a group of women, walking at night didn’t feel safe at all. However- this isn’t anything to do with the hotel just wanted to note for others. Also nothing to do with the hotel but relevant for tourists. The taxi’s from the airport say 2.99Lei per KM which in my calculations made the journey to the hotel around £15-£20 per car. When we arrived- one taxi driver was asking about where the men/husbands were and then charged us £70 per taxi. We queried this as I had screen shotted the route and the price. They said that the 2.99 was the price outside the city and there was clearly a new magical price for the city! They got quite aggy but eventually we agreed at £30 per car as I didn’t fancy any more arguments. Ubers in the city were fine but Ubers from the spa were not. Please see my review for Therme for more details . Thanks Novotel for a lovely comfortable stay
