Great location, not the best choice

I chose this hotel because of its location to public transit and within the city itself. I also chose it because they stated they have air conditioning. Upon check in I double checked that they had air con and that's where the man stated "well we have climate control". He couldn't really explain what that was but essentially, they DID NOT have air conditioning. This was mid-July with a heat wave in full swing. The man handed me a shoddy pedestal fan for the room. Upon entering the room, I saw they gave me an accessible room...that's fine....until the problems it would soon reveal. I tried to make the "climate control" work like the man said. Windows closed and went out with my friends. Came back to a sweltering room so clearly there truly was not even air circulation. Then throughout my stay was the whole bathroom situation. Even with the curtain in place the bathroom floor would flood and soak the carpet to the room at the entrance. This was clearly a long time issue as the sliding pocket door had massive wood rot and mildew. You would have to use the large water squeegee to get it all into the drain. How is a disabled person able to do this themselves?! They aren't! Shoes in the bathroom at all times because it would take forever to dry. I'd leave for the day with the windows open and the pedestal fan, meant to cool the room down, pointed at the bathroom and carpet to hopefully dry it. The one day I had housekeeping come in I came back to the fan turned off and the windows closed. It was stifling and damp in the room with a strong odor of mildew that is obviously lurking beneath the carpet. So that was a weeklong battle. With windows open, bugs came in and you could hear the drunks at night from the restaurant/bar below creating havoc. One night there was clearly an altercation and the bus stop glass was shattered. It wasn't the easiest to sleep with the noise going on. Wouldn't be a problem if these issues didn't exist and the windows could remain closed. When trying to get my Berlin Pass printed, they had me send it to their email. The man walked out with someone else's documents and handed them to me. He had to go back and figure out where mine were. It was a bit odd and just seemed like a very disorganized place. The small positives were ample storage space, a mini-fridge, and microwave. The S-bahn is right across the street from the hotel and you can even take a nice walk down to the main sites...30-40 minutes depending on pace and how hot it is outside. I personally would not return to this location due to false advertisement and the general state of things.

Great stay for a whistle stop tour of Berlin

This hotel was excellent for our stay in Berlin. It was very central, the room was clean with the bathroom and toilet feeling like you were on a ship (pod style). We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, as we were out and about, but did have a drink in the bar on our final night, which was fine. We had planned on having breakfast there before checking out on our final day, but when we enquired the cost was 22 Euros each (we expected about 10!), so we packed our bags and went to the bakery around the corner instead! Word to the wise - it's not actually in Potsdamer Platz, so stay on the SBahn for an extra stop - you need to get off at Anhalter Bahnhof and the hotel is right there.

A very smart choice

Modern and practical hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Εxcellent location 15 minutes walking distance from many points of interest and 35 minutes from the Brandenburg Gate. The rooms are excellent with special and smart design, spacious, with comfortable beds, ideal temperature and excellent sound insulation. Typical and polite staff willing to serve you. Reasonably prices, except maybe from breakfast which costs 22 € per person just for the basics

Great experience

We were very happy to stay here, even though it was only a night, and sad to leave. Close to Potsdamer Platz and well connected by bus, esp. M29 and M41 (Hbf). The hotel is right next to S Bahn: infortunately, while we were in Berlin, S Bahn was not in operation. If it was, it would have been even nicer. Lidl was right around the corner, which made the stay even more convenient. Room was a large suite and had everything like microwave, fridge, hot pot. There was a tub in the bathroom. Wifi was fast. We did not have a chance to have a meal at the hotel. Will definitely go back next time we visit Berlin!

Disappointing

We have stayed several times over the years. I saw a decline in 2022 but this year was dreadful. I don’t know how you’re hiring your staff now but I couldn’t tell who was staff and who was a customer. They were just milling about, outside chatting, in no way obvious who they were unless they were at a desk checking someone in. Previously they’d store our bags prior to check in in a locked room with a ticket. No more. They are just shoved behind the old reception desk and left unattended and in full public view. When we came to claim them we were just asked to point to which one was ours, we could have taken any bags! We were not greeted with any sort of welcome. Everything seemed an inconvenience. We were told our room was ready…it wasn’t. I had to go back down 7 flights of stairs (quicker than waiting for the 1 lift) to let them know. They said it would be done asap. It took hours. We were exhausted after travelling through the night and my daughter had no bed to sleep on. After the 5 hour wait I had to ask for extra pillows. I was told I could only have two and she absolutely refused to give me three. She said she’d get them (under duress), she didn’t, I had to go downstairs again and get them. I was told I could have as many as I liked. We went to shower - our shower hose wasn’t even attached to the shower. We turned the lamp on and smoke started billowing out of the top! I asked to move rooms and was moved from a city view (which I requested, booked and paid for) to a room overlooking a busy car park, which local casino employees were using to set off fireworks. The sheets weren’t changed once in 6 nights. The bathroom wasn’t topped up once. The kitchen wasn’t cleaned or topped up once. Occasionally our bed was as made. The one working lift (the second lift broke on our last visit in July 2022 and was still out of order) broke on NYE meaning everyone had to use the stairs. I had seen various older guests and parents with pushchairs and pull along luggage trucks so goodness knows how they managed. They didn’t even put an out of order sign on the door. We just all stood and waited until one of the people working there stuck her head around the wall and said we’d need to take the stairs. On the 6 other visits prior to this we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff who were always a pleasure to deal with. The rooms were lovely and clean, our beds were changed daily, kitchen and bathroom cleaned and restocked. It’s so sad to see such a wonderful hotel decline so rapidly. As an Accor member and pay on average over £100 a night we no longer feel we are getting what we pay for. This used to be a top quality hotel and is now akin to a hostel. Unfortunately on our next visit we will be looking elsewhere.

We understand the inconvenience with the baggage, but unfortunately, the size of our storage room does not allow us to place all the luggage that guests wish to keep in the luggage room. We are trying to find a solution to this issue and we are very sorry for the impression we have made. We understand the frustration and exhaustion you must have felt after a long journey. We also understand that guests want to get their room ready by the early arrival. Therefore, based on the availability of rooms ready for check-in, we try to provide rooms with early check-in even before 3 p.m., even though it´ s not guaranteed. We afraid that, there may have been a misunderstanding because after the end of the maid shift, bedding is in limited supply at reception, so the receptionist needs to prepare additional before they can offer it to the guest. We are genuinely sorry for the frustration caused by the delay in providing the extra pillows you requested. Thank you for letting us know about those technical issues in the room. Additionally, we are deeply concerned about the incident with the lamp emitting smoke. The safety and well-being of our guests are of utmost importance to us. We have conducted a thorough inspection of the room and the affected lamp to identify and rectify the issue promptly. Our maintenance team is working diligently to replace or repair the lamp to prevent any such occurrences in the future. Also our maintenance team has inspected and rectify the problem with the shower hose not being properly attached. We do our best to fulfill the such wishes as view, high or low floor of our guests, which they indicated in their reservations. Sometimes, it is not always possible due to limited availability of rooms. In accordance with our hotel standards, linens are changed every three days or at the guest's request. On the day of the linen change, you had a do not disturb card on your door and the maids were unable to make the change. Unfortunately, this information was not communicated the next day. Should a guest request a change of linen, we communicate that message to the housekeeping team for further implementation. Please, be sure, we have tried to do our best to repair the elevator as soon as possible and we regret that technical issue with the elevator affected your stay. We cannot take an influence on occasional technical issues, but we will have a conversation with staff about how to behave according to standards.
