This seems to be the only hotel in walking distance of the airport and with an early flight it was something like "Hobson's choice", Reading the reviews I was quite concerned and if the hotel was really bad we would have sat up all night in the airport. So what was it actually like on 24th October 2023? Well fine! We were met with a warm welcome and a smile by a nice friendly lady on reception when we booked in at 8:30pm. The key code to the door worked. The room was clean and everything worked ( well - no sink plug!). Water was hot, shower worked well, room was warm, location is quiet. Only downside was the single very thin pillow. There are no "built in" USB ports in the room and no kettle which I guess I expected. Morning check out was swift and we were seen off with a cheery "auf Wiedersehen!" We had breakfast at MacDoos (7-am opening) on the way to the airport (10/15 min walk). Dortmund Ibis Budget hotel seems to have used the same designer cues as NHS hospitals so Brits will feel right at home. Conclusion: Fine for an overnighter for an early flight, the undoubted problems reported earlier seem to have been addressed.

The first room we got didn’t have light in the toilet. They tried to fix it and finally we got another room. We had to leave early the next morning and we asked for an early breakfast at 6 AM. This was no problem, but at 6AM, nothing to be seen. So we had to leave without breakfast we payed for. On top of that they succeeded in charging the room an breakfast twice. Unless you have no other option, don’t stay at this hotel.

Overall, it was not a bad room… it had everything basic, but it was very small and the hotel also. I paid 53€, which is way higher than a 10/12m2 room. Other than the price, I had everything for my 6 hours sleep before my flight. The women at the desk didn’t found my booking, but two days after, my first purchase was refunded, so I payed only one room. Nothing special, that’s why I think 50€+ are expensive. Also there is nothing working in the area, other than one gas station and a casino, if I remember right. So, buy your own food, because there is only one vending machine.

At first I thought that the hotel was closed and abandoned as the garden was exceedingly overgrown! I suggest prompt action here. Service was polite friendly and professional. The room fulfilled my expectations for this price: clean and simple.

The booking date was mistaken by the system without me to know it and when arriving at the hotel I couldn't get inside. There was nobody at the reception to let me in or helping me to reschedule the stay, even if there was free rooms. So, I left the place looking for another hotel. And I have never received the money back or an apologize.
